One Lovely Blog Award!

one lovely blog award

Good afternoon beauties I hope you’re all very well and enjoying the gorgeous weather today! – before I start the ‘One Lovely Blog Award’ of which I am very excited about I’d like to quickly apologise for the lack of blog posts I’ve been on holiday and been extremely busy, however now I am back and have plenty of time to blog so keep your eyes peeled for more blog posts! [I have a July favourites coming very very soon!]

Now onto the award! First and foremost I’d like to thank the fabulous girl who nominated me, her blog is full of beauty posts like mine as well as many other great posts of which you would love so definitely go and check out her blog and the award she did  – dasilva.

Now this award involves me listing seven facts about myself of which I am very pleased about as it gives you a chance to get to know me seeing as I’m very new to the blogging world! At the end I will nominate a few blogs of which I love and enjoy reading and of which I would also be very interested to learn more about!

1. I am a vegetarian and have been since after Christmas this year! I feel very strongly about the lives of animals and how they’re treated before being manufactured for human consumption and I also see great health benefits from it – however I would never try and change a Carnivore’s views as I believe it’s your body and your choice!

2. Both my parents are Moroccan making me pretty much full Moroccan apart from the fact I was born and raised here in England!

3. My hair is actually naturally very curly and I straighten it most days hence its volume – I used to be so self conscious of its thickness and frizziness before I knew how to look after and control it properly and due to this didn’t actually wear my hair down until the age of thirteen! Now I know how to care for it and wouldn’t change it for the world!

4. I have 2 siblings – one brother who’s thirteen and one adorable little sister who’s three!

5. I love love love helping people, everybody has that thing in life that makes them feel satisfied and happy and the feeling of improving someone’s life for the better really makes me feel content and any opportunity I get to volunteer I grasp with both hands – at the moment I’m volunteering with young children at a library of which I really enjoy!

6. I’m agnostic. This is because I do believe there’s something there like a God as well as our lives being planned however I find it hard to grasp other concepts such as heaven and hell amongst many other things making me very unsure but wanting to believe; therefore the best label for myself is for sure agnostic!

7. I used to be extremely shy and literally not talk to anybody! Now I feel very confident in myself of which I feel is very important in ones life!

Thankyou for taking the time to read my facts – I hope they didn’t bore you to much!

I would like to nominate the lovely –

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick – REVIEW!

Hello Beauties I hope you’re all doing wonderfully on this beautiful summers day.

Recently I decided to purchase the popular Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick from the website Beauty Bay [be sure to check out their site, they’re one of the only British sites to sell ABH products!] it cost me £9.50 and I got it in the brown shade with an undertone of purple which is ‘Iced Mocha’. I hope you enjoy my review as this product is truly fabulous!

SHADE – Iced Mocha. PRICE – £9.50.

As I’ve said previously I love liquid lipsticks and this is surely one of my favourites so far! I wanted a colour that was neutral but still slightly dramatic and out there and this one definitely does the job! Here’s a few swatches in comparison to the picture advertised so it’s true to colour which is great!

Iced Mocha.

When applying the product to your lips it applies flawlessly with the beautiful creamy lipstick accompanied by its lipgloss like applicator making it easy! I advise to apply it rather quickly however, as it dries super fast with a gorgeous matte finish on the lips.

The packaging of the product is very classy with a black and gold box and gold lid on the actual bottle; the liquid lipstick is advertised with ‘LONG WEAR’ on the packaging and boy that doesn’t lie! It amazingly stays on all day and I must say I struggled to get it off at the end of the day but I’m not complaining! Just make sure you moisturise your lips after use as it can leave them feeling rather dry at the end of the day!

As a whole I would give this product a 4.5/5 it only lacked the 0.5 because my lips felt in need of some TLC afterwards but apart from that it’s AMAZING and very true to the way it’s advertised and reviewed online which is always a good thing as there’s nothing worse then having your expectations disheartened! I will without a doubt be trying some more shades from the Gerard Cosmetics Liquid lipstick collection!

Thankyou for reading my reviews lovelies and I thoroughly hope you enjoyed it and I didn’t bore you too much! If you’re interested in purchasing your own Liquid Lipstick from this range here’s a link to make it nice and easy for you – http://goo.gl/TGTO48

JUNE – Monthly favourites!

Hello beauties, I hope you’re having a lovely lazy Sunday! This is a kind of post that I love to read so I hope you enjoy my fave drugstore items of which I purchased over the course of June; prices, a mini review and overview will be included for each item!

–  ENJOY  –

My four monthly favourites – Freedom Eyebrow Pomade, FIT me! Maybelline NY Concealer, Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream.

1. Freedom Eyebrow Pomade – 5 stars.

When my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz eyebrow pencil ran out I was looking to go and purchase the ABH eyebrow pomade which retails for an up market £15.00, when I came across this dupe which claimed to be the exact same at a much more reasonable £5.00.

I ordered it online at my local boots store and it arrived the next day, in the shade ‘GRANITE’ because my hair is very thick and almost black and I was very, very pleased! I can already tell this product will last me a long time and the quality is fantastic especially for the cheap price. It applies beautifully, blends well when I want to make a gradient at the beginning of my eyebrows and comes off nicely with makeup wipes! This is definitely my ‘go too’ eyebrow piece of makeup and I won’t be reverting to any other makeup product anytime soon!

2. FIT me! Maybelline New York Concealer – 5 stars.

SHADE – 20 – SAND – £5.99.

I needed a new concealer that I could both hide blemishes and use to contour/highlight with and this one definitely does the job! I have it in a shade sand which is a middle tone perfect for brightening my light caramel skin-tone, I purchased it from SuperDrug at a fantastic £5.99 and it’s thick, bendable formula makes it perfect for me!

3. Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner – 4 stars.

Eyeliner is my MAIN makeup item and I simply couldn’t do without it so I need to make sure that I use a good one! The Collection one out of all the drug store ones I’ve tried is by far my favourite with a gorgeous matte finish, easy applicator and deep black colour at an almost stolen £2.99!

The only thing I would say is you have to apply about two coats of the eyeliner as it doesn’t apply fully pigmented the first time every single time so that’s why I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars!

4. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – 5 stars.

SHADE – Abu Dhabi – £5.50.

This is a product I have been wanting to try for such a long time as I’m OBSESSED with lip products and love liquid lipsticks so as soon as it came into boots I rushed to purchase one! I got mine in the pinky, brown shade ‘Abu Dhabi’ each of the NYX lip creams are named after capital cities; there’s even one for London which I love the idea of!

So I am basically IN LOVE with this product as it smells fantastic, applies effortlessly with the lipgloss like applicator and has a creamy, moisturising feel to it. After about 10 minutes it dries matte and lasts several hours even after eating and drinking! Which I didn’t expect for the price, I will definitely be trying many more shades of this lip cream and would give it an easy 5 star rating!

That’s the end to my monthly favourites, I hope you enjoyed reading it and if you did be sure to give it a like; I will be sure to return,

Maxfactor 2000 Calorie Mascara – review.

Hello Beauties – I hope you’re all having a lovely day!

Today I decided to purchase a few classic drugstore makeup products of which have been around for several decades – and obviously there’s a reason for them not being discontinued!

Mascara is probably my most alienated makeup product with myself being more of an eyeliner foe (and having ridiculously watery eyes making wearing mascara almost impossible), however recently I have been wanting to try different waterproof mascaras and wear it more; so that’s just what I’ve been doing!

Today I picked up the Max factor 2000 calorie mascara in the shade ‘RICH BLACK’ in boots, retailing at a modest £7.99. This mascara has been out for over two decades so I was very excited to give it a go!

Classic black and blue packaging.

So, moving on to the actual quality of the mascara out of 5 stars I’d give it a 3 star rating as it’s not the best mascara I’ve tried however it has got some nice elements to it. This is the brush of the mascara and as you can see it’s thin which is good as it didn’t make my eyelashes go too clumpy and had a nice, natural finish so therefore if you like a more natural lash look – this mascara is the one for you! Sadly I’m more about a rather dramatic look!brush

But saying that what I do love about this mascara is it really is waterproof! As I said previously I struggle with having very watery eyes and even though my eyes watered throughout the day I didn’t have any issues with black dyed tears which I had with my other mascaras; but I must add you need a really good eye makeup remover with this mascara!

So all in all this revolutionary, classic mascara is an average one for me personally alongside it’s more modern, innovative rivals – here’s a picture of my eyelashes natural, curled and then with three coats of the mascara to show you how well it applies!

Introductory post:)

Hello Beauties and welcome to my blog!

This is my first ever blog post so we’ll just make it short and sweet and tell you what this blog and myself is all about!

I have many loves in life and two of those are makeup and literature so I thought why not combine the two and make a makeup related blog! On my blog you will see makeup reviews, tutorials, dupes, tips, my makeup secrets and MANY MANY more fantastic makeup related posts!

A little bit about me – my name is Najwa, I am sixteen and will be seventeen in September, I am creative and love that makeup can be used to project beauty and make the beholder feel great about THEMSELVES – I also like to hugely emphasise that us girls don’t wear makeup to impress anyone, we wear it because we look and feel amazing wearing it.

A little selfie so you know what I look like haha!

That’s it for my first post but there will be many more to come, please also accept the fact I am new to blogging so my blog is still a huge work in progress but hopefully will improve as I go, much love,
